If you have an iPhone 5 or newer, and a newer model Volkswagen, you can probably connect your iPhone 5 to the vehicle so you can use your music streaming, podcast, audiobook, radio, navigation, and other apps through the touchscreen and hands-free interface built into your Volkswagen. Not every trim of every model year of every model has Apple CarPlay though, so we put together this guide to help you figure it out!

What Volkswagen Models Work with Apple CarPlay®?

Here is a list of each of the Volkswagen vehicles sold at Carter Volkswagen. There is not enough space here to list every year of every model, so the most recent models are listed. If you want more information, you can always call a Carter Volkswagen representative at 206-782-7474 to learn more.

As part of Volkswagen App-Connect, every Volkswagen model of the last year or two has had compatibility with Apple CarPlay®. The 2020 Volkswagen Golf is listed as “standard” above since there is only one trim for the Golf in 2020.

How Do I Connect my iPhone to my Volkswagen?

As long as you have an iPhone 5 or newer iPhone, a USB charging cable for your phone, and a Volkswagen with App-Connect, you should be able to set up Apple CarPlay® in a minute or two. You might want to get an extra charging cable just for your car, just make sure it is the right kind of cable for your phone. Plug your cable into the USB port in the front of your Volkswagen and plug your iPhone into that cable. Follow the prompts on your phone’s screen and you should be ready to listen to your favorite music, podcasts, audiobooks, and more in no time!
