What’s new with the 2019 Volkswagen Passat?
The most notable change for the 2019 model year is that the S trim level is no more. Only two trims are available—the Wolfsburg Edition and the SE R-Line®. Both trims come with the same 2.0-liter TSI® engine. Something that all drivers should appreciate is that forward collision warning, autonomous braking, blind spot monitoring, and rear traffic alert all come standard on every Passat now. The Wolfsburg Edition is the replacement of the S trim and it features upgraded 17-inch wheels (previously 16 inches).
Previous models have featured a 5-inch front touchscreen monitor. All monitors have been upped to 6.3 inches and they come standard with Volkswagen Car-Net® App-Connect infotainment, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, and other features that can be controlled with voice commands.
The rest of the interior has also been refined. All 2019 Passat models come with a push-button start, leatherette seating, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and heated front seats. On the outside, meanwhile, the side view mirrors come with heat capabilities as well.
The R-Line® package is a Volkswagen-specific appearance package that makes any vehicle as sporty as possible. The new SE R-Line® comes with LED lighting, Discover Media infotainment and navigation, ambient interior lighting, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and Fender premium audio.
